Directions

Take this medicine by mouth as directed by your doctor, with or without food, every 12 hours. Do not take this medicine more often than once daily.

Warnings

Do not take:

• if you are allergic to esomeprazole• if you have ever had an allergic reaction to esomeprazole magnesium hydroxide• if you have high blood pressure or uncontrolled high blood pressure

Caution

If you are taking medication for diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, or have kidney or liver problems, keep the bottle in a cool, dry location. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, break, or chew the tablet. Nexium 24HR should be taken at a time each patient is taking Nexium 24HR for the first time.

The following groups of patients are recommended to be treated with Nexium 24HR:

• Patients with kidney or liver problems

• Patients taking other medicines to treat acid reflux (PPIs), such as proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) or heartburn relievers
• Patients with a history of peptic ulcer or perforated ulcers

Use Nexium 24HR only if the symptoms are reflux disease (such as heartburn and stomach pain).

This medicine should not be used by patients with a known hypersensitivity to esomeprazole, any other ingredients in this medicine, or other substances in Nexium 24HR or any other medicine.

This enzyme is responsible for breakdown of esomeprazole by azphosphatidylcholine (dihydrochlorin). It works in the stomach and esophagus, leading to little to no reduction in pH. Magnesium trihydrate should not be broken down by esomeprazole. It is inactive.
